Apple Park: The Spaceship – Apple’s New Headquarter:

Apple didn’t only unveil its apple product like apple watch, apple tv & iPhones (including iPhone X) but also its new headquarter with Steve Jobs theatre in it when it launched its product on 12 sept 2017 to the public. The official name of the new headquarter is Apple Park but because of its ring structure which is very artistic & futuristic is also called as ‘The Ring ‘ and “The Spaceship because of it resemblance look with large alien UFO.

Apple Park located at 1 Apple Park Way in Cupertino, California. it replaced the original Headquarter at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, which opened in 1993. Apple had a presence in Cupertino since 1977 so instead of shifting to another affordable region it remained in Cupertino.

The campus is 175 acres, it houses more than 12,000 people in one central four storied circular building of approximately 2,800,000 sq feet, 80% of campus site consist of green space & at the centre there is man made a pond. In cost for the project the land only costs $160 million, the construction was mean to cost near by $3.2 billion in 2011 but it later jumped to nearby $5 billion.

One of the most interesting features is rotating elevators in the building , instead of featuring 2 door openings in an elevator for entering & getting out, it has only one door opening but it shifts around the circular lift. The building was designed by architect Norman Foster. The Steve Jobs Theater, where the event happened is actually underground, above there is cylindrical glass structure building without pillars & only supported by an outer curved glass wall.

“It’s got a gorgeous courtyard in the middle, and a lot more. It’s a circle, so it’s curved all the way round. This is not the cheapest way to build something. Every pane of glass in the main building will be curved. We have a shot, at building the best office building in the world. I really do think that architecture students will come here to see it. “  – Said, Steve Jobs!

The headquarter is powered by 100 % renewable energy. which include solar panel installation on its rooftop which is one of the most largest on sight installation on a building of power generation up to 17 Mega Watts the peak time which covers nearby 75% of its requirement another 4 Mega Watts comes from Bloom Energy Server fuel cell which is powered by biofuel or natural gas , it structural design enable natural ventilation for majority of time .

Like the majority of silicon valley tech giants like google, Facebook, this new headquarter also comes with lots of world class facilities & perks for its employee like 7 cafes, auditorium, wellness centre, gym , visitor centre, under ground parking lot with electric charging facility with free electric car ride on the requirement.
