Nowadays it is becoming easy because of these messenger apps, that the fear of saying in front of her/him becomes less. We also have dating apps like Tinder which are specially made for dating. Not exactly but very similar to this app, Facebook is launching its own dating feature called Secret Crush. So now you can silently express your affection for a friend without them knowing unless they reciprocate. This Facebook dating feature is free, which is available to users who are 18 years and older.

Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook in 2004, his main purpose of the social networking site was to help students in Harvard University befriend fellow students and increase their social circle. Now we know how widely it is working in the world. Because of this app, the world came closer that even if your friends are far from you, you still can be in touch with them. So now as we know there are dating apps like Tinder and Bumble but now the social media giant has introduced a new feature ‘Secret Crush’ in Facebook dating which is currently available in a few countries.

Secret Crush

During its annual technology conference of F8, the social media giant announced this ‘Secret Crush’ feature. This feature will allow users to discover potential matches within their own Facebook community. As it’s a dating app, Secret Crush expands beyond strangers and friend-to-friend. It may introduce you to your future spouse.

It is launched in 2018, Facebook dating is currently available in Columbia Thailand, Canada, Argentina, and Mexico, and is now being expanded to 14 new countries. This includes the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Guyana, and Suriname. By the end of this year, the US will be able to use it.

How does it work?

Facebook Dating is a free feature on Facebook, which available to users who are 18 years and older. When you opt-in the feature it asks you to create a separate dating profile. It needs a limited amount of personal information which will be shown to your potential matches. Here you can choose up to nine friends you like. If they have opted into Facebook Dating they will automatically get a notification that some friend has a crush on them. If they add you as a Secret Crush, you both will get notified and can chat on messenger.

This feature is most closely related to its competitor Hinge. Here you can initiate a conversation by answering questions or saying something about a person`s picture. Users also can opt-in and browse events and groups to find potential matches for themselves. This feature is basically helping you to express your affection to a perfect match and that also without knowing them unless they reciprocate In order to avoid spam, Facebook will only let a user sub out one person per day after you reach the initial limit of nine.

Technology is helping

This is really nice that technology is caring or working about feelings issues. Somewhere psychologically it is the safest option to interact with your crush. Because almost everyone is afraid of this moment when it is time to say in front of her/him. But this will never happen on Messengers, that we are less afraid and with the advantage that crushes cannot slap.
